Our high-quality programme is led by experienced coaches and supported by elite players.
The lead coaches of the programme are Harvinder Bhuhi and Paul Lineham.
Harvinder Bhuhi headed one of the most successful junior sections in the country, at Leicster Hockey Club, which saw several age-group teams reach national finals over a period of a few years. Several players from those teams went on to play at national league and international level. Some of these players are supporting the initiative by becoming SLYH ambassadors and are occasional guest coaches at sessions and camps.
We provide opportunities for assistants new to coaching to develop their skills under the guidance and supervision of the senior coaches.
The SLYH Welfare Officer is Maisie Regan.
We aim to strengthen the hockey community in the county, creating opportunities for everyone.
Our coaching philosophy is simply that the most important role of the coaches is to make the children passionate about the sport.
In addition to the weekly sessions, we offer special school visits and camps led by SLYH’s ambassadors. These events are a good way to inspire youngsters and provide invaluable insights from some of the sport’s top players.
SLYH is a safe and supportive environment, with well-trained coaches dedicated to nurturing each player’s development.
Our goal is to foster a long-term connection between children and hockey, so they can enjoy the benefits for years to come.
